|Jake Odorizzi leads TB against Cincinnati|
Take #922 Tampa Bay -136 over Cincinnati (7:10 PM ET Monday, June 19)
The Cincinnati Reds look to snap a nine-game losing streak when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays in the opener of a three-game series. First pitch is slated for 7:10 PM ET at Tropicana Field where the Rays are -136 moneyline favorites. The total is 8.5.
The Reds (29-39, 10-21 road) have gone from two games out in the National League Central to last place in the division in a span of nine days. Since completing a four-game sweep of St. Louis on June 9, the Big Red machine has blown a gasket. They went 0-6 on their West Coast swing, and then got swept at home by the Dodgers this weekend. Cincinnati is now 7.5 games behind first-place Milwaukee.
The Rays (37-35, 21-15 home) swatted five home runs in support of rookie Jacob Faria in a 9-1 victory over Detroit on Sunday to earn a split of its four-game road series. Faria struck out nine and allowed one run and six hits to earn his third straight big league victory.
A pair of veteran righthanders will square off with Scott Feldman facing Jake Odorizzi.
Feldman (5-5, 4.29 ERA) has been worse on the road this season (2-3, 5.58 ERA) than in Cincinnati (3-2, 3.45). Overall Cincy’s starting pitchers are 0-6 with an 8.29 ERA during the Reds' nine-game losing streak.
Odorizzi (4-3, 3.77) has done some of his best work at Tropicana Field this year, however, posting a 3-2 record with a 3.11 ERA and 1.01 WHIP while allowing hitters to bat only .213 against him. Odorizzi is 6-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 15 interleague starts.
Tampa Bay has the second-best record in the American League against righthanded starters at 29-19.
