|Karl Anthony Towns and LeBron James butt heads tonight in Cleveland|
Take #706 Minnesota Timberwolves +1 over Cleveland Cavaliers OVER 220 (8 PM ET Monday, January 8)
The Minnesota Timberwolves go for a signature victory when they host LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tip-off is set for 8 PM ET at the Target Center where the Cavs are favored by -1. The total is 220.
Minnesota (25-16, 14-6 home) put together one of its most complete efforts of the season in Friday’s 116-98 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Not only did the T-Wolves hold its fifth straight opponent under 100 points, they took care of business on the other end dishing out 26 assists and shooting 48.9 percent from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a double-double in the New Orleans game (21/16 rebounds) and has doubled up in each of the last five games to bring his league-leading total to 33.
Cleveland (26-13, 11-9 road) was already among the league leaders in scoring before Isiah Thomas (hip) returned from his 36 game absence. Thomas made his first start on Saturday, scoring 19 points in 21 minutes. He gives the Cavs a solid Plan B behind James who was an assist shy of a triple-double while collecting 33 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and six steals in Saturday’s 131-127 victory over Orlando.
The Cavaliers have struggled ATS this season going 12-26-1 overall including a road mark of 9-11. Cleveland took both of last year’s meetings with James averaging 26 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds.
The Cavs are 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall. They’re 1-3-1 ATS in their last five against the Northwest Division and 5-16-1 ATS last 22 against the Western Conference. The T-Wolves are 3-10-1 ATS last 14 overall.
The OVER is 4-0 in the last four meetings.
