Vegas (35-13-2, 16-10-1 road, 74 points) is 3-1-1 on its current trek and coming off a Super Sunday 4-3 victory in Washington. Alex Tuch scored with five minutes remaining in regulation to help the Golden Knights bump their Western Conference leading point total to 74. They’re now one point behind Tampa Bay for the league lead.
Pittsburgh (29-22-2, 19-7-1 home, 61 points) had its four-game winning streak snapped with a Saturday’s 4-1 loss to New Jersey. Phil Kessel, who leads the Penguins with 63 points, is in the midst of his fifth five-game point streak of the season. He’s scored two goals and dished out seven assists during his streak.
Its homecoming night for goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (15-4-2, 1.84 GAA, .939 save percentage) who spent 13 seasons in Pittsburgh. Fleury made 24 stops in Vegas' 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh at T-Mobile Arena on December 14. David Perron—another player with ties to the Penguins--has scored 12 points in his last nine games.
Vegas will be playing its fourth game in six nights but are a perfect 7-0 in that situation this year. The Golden Knights are 6-1 in their last seven against the Metropolitan Division, 10-2 last 12 vs. the Eastern Conference and 4-1 in their past five road games.
