Super Sunday NHL Opinion: Vegas/Washington WINNER!

Take #51 Vegas Golden Knights and Washington Capitals OVER 5.5 (12:30 PM ET Sunday, February 4)

The Vegas Golden Knights continue their six-game road with a visit to the nation’s capital where they’ll take on Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Game time is 12:30 PM ET at Capital One Arena where the Caps are -120 moneyline favorites. The total is 5.5.

Vegas (34-13-2, 15-10-1 road) posted victories over Winnipeg and Calgary to begin the trip, but suffered an uninspired 5-2 loss Friday in Minnesota in which they managed just 24 shots.  Erik Haula extended his goal-scoring streak to five games and his point skein to eight games in a row.

Washington (30-16-4, 19-7-1 home) leads the Metropolitan Division, is 3-3-2 in its last eight games after surrendering the final three tallies in Friday's 7-4 setback at Pittsburgh. Ovechkin scored twice in the loss to the Penguins and has five goals and as many assists over his last seven games to increase his team-leading total to 56 points.

Vegas goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves in a 3-0 victory against the Capitals on Dec. 23 and is 21-12-2 lifetime versus Washington. Caps netminder Braden Holtby (26-10-4, .914 save percentage) has allowed nine goals in his last two games and could give way to backup Philipp Grubauer who is 4-6-3 and owns a .916 save percentage.

The Golden Knights are 9-4 in the last 13 road games and 12-4 last 16 when facing a team with a winning record.

Vegas is 5-2 to the OVER in its last six overall and 12-6-1 to the high side in their last 19 road games. The two teams are a combined 57-43 to the OVER this year.

The Golden Knights continue to be a huge hit on the puckline, posting a 36-15 mark with earnings of $2,070.

This will be the second and final regular season meeting of the year. Vegas posted a 3-0 home victory over Washington December 23 as Fleury stopped 26 shots.
