Take #921 Boston Red Sox ML over New York Yankees (8:07 PM ET Tuesday, October 9)
The Boston Red Sox look to advance to the American League Championship Series when they visit the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the ALDS. First pitch in the Bronx is set for 8:07 PM ET.
Boston (2-1, 1-0 road) leads the best-of-five series 2-1 following a record-setting 16-1 rout of the Yanks in Game 3. Brock Holt become the first player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in a postseason game and every starter had at least one hit for the Red Sox, who piled up 18 in all. The only time they scored more runs in the postseason was a 23-7 win over Cleveland in 1999.
It wasn’t just a loss for New York (1-2, 0-1 home) but rather a setback for the ages. The 15-run defeat was the worst in the proud history of Yankee postseason baseball covering 396 games. Good luck bouncing back from that.
Rick Porcello and CC Sabathia will do the pitching in Game 4. Porcello, who appeared in relief in Game 1, was 17-7 with a 4.28 ERA in 33 starts during the regular season., He’s never recorded a postseason victory going 0-3 with a 5.33 ERA in 12 career appearances.
Sabathia, who hasn't pitched in 13 days, is well versed in postseason pressure thanks to 23 appearances (22 starts). He’s 10-6 with a 4.20 ERA.
